What affiliate links are
Sunset Field is reader-supported. When you click certain links on this site and buy a product from a merchant (such as Amazon), the merchant may pay us a small commission. You pay exactly the same price you would pay without the link — the commission comes out of the merchant's side.
This is disclosed on every page where such links appear, near the links themselves, because the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (and basic honesty) requires it.
What commissions don't buy
- Placement. Products appear in our guides because our research supports them, not because a commission rate is higher.
- Coverage. We don't accept payment to include, rank, or review products.
- Opinions. Every "not for" and "cons" section is written the same way whether the product carries a link or not.
Commission rates vary by merchant and product category and have no influence on our picks. When a better product has no affiliate program, it still gets the recommendation.
How the site earns
We participate in affiliate programs, which may include Amazon Associates, eBay Partner Network, AliExpress Affiliates, and brand-run programs, among others. Program membership doesn't change our editorial process. Where a specific relationship applies to a page, it's stated there.
Our research method
Guides on this site are based on manufacturer specifications, documentation, warranty terms, and publicly available customer feedback. We describe this method on every guide and in How we review. We do not claim hands-on testing we haven't done.
