Why cheap solar lights die young

Understanding the failure modes tells you when the cheap tier is fine and when it isn’t.

The battery is the first thing to go. Budget lights ship with small NiMH cells that hate three things: being cooked in a sealed plastic tube all summer, deep discharge every night, and cheap charging circuits that overcharge them.
